Description

This image set sat in my "need to process" bin since early 2022. I thought the data didn't look hopeful, from home observing nights with so-so seeing, moon, only bin2x2, etc so I just never went and processed it. I also had 17 minutes of data (clouds ruined the chanced of capturing more) from a dark sky site with much better seeing that picked up a lot of core detail.
So I processed both sets of data and combined them and with a little TLC, the results came out a far better than I expected. It's amazing how bad some of the input data can look before processing transforms it into a astro image!

The galaxy as a whole is NGC 2903 at a distance of around 9.2 mega-parsecs, while NGC 2905 appears to be one of the large brighter HII regions near the upper end of the bar.
The faint galaxy to the left just below center is low surface brightness galaxy UGC 5086 at a distance of roughly 7.4 mega-parsecs.
